Class 1 LE certification ladder

South Carolina's SC Criminal Justice Academy issues Intermediate, Advanced, and Master Class 1 Law Enforcement Officer certificates based on years of service plus completion of approved advanced courses. POST-INT, POST-ADV, and POST-MAS reflect typical SC sheriff's office monthly differentials. We benchmark Greenwood's structure against peer counties so the ladder is competitive without overpaying.

Acting & Career-Ladder pay

The RFP §CLASSIFICATION STUDY item 4 asks for ‘career ladders/promotional opportunities.’ Acting Assignment Pay (5–10% above base for designated periods) and step movement on promotion are the two levers. We document both and recommend bright-line policy language so HR isn't making one-off decisions.

Prevalence and monthly values illustrative. Production figures pulled from Greenwood County payroll detail (12 most recent pay periods) at engagement award.
